Spiritual forces seed division through real human systems and real habits.

The world hands us labels and assigns blame. It paints the other side of your ideology as the source of all your problems. And this strategy can be seen in all institutions, media, and even our own churches. I know you have noticed it.

These systems train us to see the “other side” as the threat. They focus your attention on someone who does not worship like you, vote like you, or think like you. They want your anger aimed at your neighbor. They want you to believe unity is impossible.

Scripture tells us that what we’re actually feeling are the Powers at work in the chaos we feel. (Ephesians 6:12) They feed on pride, fear, and accusation. They train us to stop listening. They keep us from reconciling.

Christ showed us a way out of this. But it’s not a passive way out. In the gospels, Jesus intentionally went out of his way to find chaos and then make that chaos into peace. He was a peacemaker, not a peace “keeper.”

So in his church, he wants to form one people. People who have made peace with one another and with God. He trains us with battle tactics that look like patience, courage, confession, and love.

Unity takes work. Jesus blesses peacemakers because peacemaking costs something. Peacemaking walks toward division and does the hard work of repair. It takes humility. It takes prayer. It takes repentance. It takes forgiveness. It takes the gospel spoken with clarity and carried with love.

So, get your armor on. Love dangerously. Forgive generously. Preach the gospel. LIVE THE GOSPEL.
